Plastic Pollution Family Drop-in Workshop 25th March 2018
Young Animators Club spent the week at the Three Hills Sports Park in Folkestone working with over 569 year-6 children as part of the SALUS 'Safety In Action' event.
The children worked in teams on this project for 'Children's Mental Health Week'.
Through designing characters in groups, we celebrated all the things which make us individual and unique. The children's characters needed to adopt characteristics and personality traits from all the members of their team. We talked about skills, likes, dislikes, beliefs favourite subject and hobbies, passions, anxieties and friendships.
Children's Mental Health Week 2018 is an initiative from Place2Be www.place2be.org.uk and this year the theme is #BeingOurselves There are some great school resources here: https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/schools-and-youth-groups/
... and some for parents and carers too: https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/parents-and-carers/
Thanks to the SALUS 'Safety In Action' event in Shepway, we were able to work with all these fantastic children in one week.
Thank you to all the Schools, staff, pupils and volunteers involved in this fantastic project.

Animation in Schools
Young Animators offer enrichment workshops, themed projects and PPA cover for schools in Kent. We promote cross-curricular, creative, collaborative idea development and encourage pupils to problem solve and learn through trial and error. We work closely with teaching staff to design projects which enhance existing topics, subjects and themes.
We can animate scientific diagrams or mathematical patterns, recreate scenes from history or respond to a piece of music or text. The finished animations, along with supporting resources, will be accessible on your school’s own page on the Young Animators website.
Why Teach Children to Animate?
We don't. We help them figure it out for themselves. Making animated films is about problem solving, logic, communication and learning through play.
Our aim is to build confidence through experimenting and collaborating in challenging projects which require young people to apply existing knowledge and skills and encourage creative thinking.
