Take your class and get transported to amazing places with Katherine Rundell’s stories. Young Animators Club have chosen extracts from her immersive texts and invite schools to create visual image sequences to glimpse the imaginations of her readers. With the aid of our online workshop and printable resources, this session will guide classes through the art of translating the written word into images. This workshop can be adapted to suit your needs. Your class can create a graphic novel, a giant storyboard, display or a narrated film.

Class 6 2020: Oliver Twist

Class 6 are reading Oliver Twist. They have recreated some atmospheric scenes from the book by studying descriptions in the text and researching Victorian London.

Class 5 2020: Beowulf

Class 5 have been reading Beowulf and creating more adventures and new beasts for him to defeat.

Class 3 have been learning about magnets and forces this term in science.

Class 2 pupils have been looking at local landmarks. Watch them build their own.

Class 5: Anglo-Saxon Life 2019

Class 5 pupils designed their Saxon characters, researched how they might live and discussed what their personalities might be like. 

I wonder what these Saxon characters have in common with their creators from 2019.

Class 5: Anglo-Saxon Life 2018

Class five worked in small groups to research, design, animate and narrate their films about Anglo-Saxon life. The films were animated on iPads using Stop Motion Studio.

Class 1: Animated Maths

Class one made this film to help teach the younger children some fantastic ways to visualise Multiples, Number Bonds, Addition and Subtraction.

Class 2: Jack and the Flumflum Tree

This film was animated by Class two as part of their Book Week activities. The children created cut-out artwork and worked in teams to animate the images on a large board. They learnt how create Stop Motion animations using istopmotion software on a Mac. The children took turns being the Director, Technician and Animators and worked together to shoot this film in just two mornings! 

Class R: Alphabet Song

This film was animated and performed by the children in Class R at Saltwood Primary School. Each child created cut-out objects and characters for their part of the film. They worked in small teams to animate the cut-out using iStopMotion animation software. 

Class 6: Mini-Me Animation

This film was Written and Animated by Class 6 at Saltwood Church of England Primary School.

The children designed and built 'Mini-me' puppets to scale and wrote scripts about memories and games from their time at Saltwood Primary School. They then made Stop Motion Animations using their their puppets and recorded dialogue for their films.
